Dig It - The Musical

Today was the fourth grade musical play. Zach's grade performed Dig It! A Musical Tale of Ancient Civilization. Zach's role was Remus. Basically he had one of the more comedic roles in the play as you can see from this video:





He gets hit by a rock and has to die a dramatic death. He and Asia had fun practicing.

May Dance Recital

Saturday May 14th was Asia's annual dance recital for West View Dance. This is a program sponsored by the PTA and held at the school. Asia loves it because it's fun and her friends are in it. It's not that challenging of a program but I'm beginning to see some promise in Asia's stage presence and considering putting her in additional dancing or theatre classes.

First up was ballet. The piece was called Music Box Dancer.

The tap dance piece was to the song Baby by Justin Bieber.

I was backstage as a parent helper so I didn't get that many great pictures or videos of the performance but from the side view, she sure looked good! During the tap number, Asia and her friend Lydia both slid and fell a little on stage, but they both just shook it off and kept going. Those darn tap shoes! :)

This is Asia's jazz outfit. The jazz piece was I'm Still Good by Hannah Montana.

Here's a video of the dress rehearsal for the jazz piece. It's not the greatest video since I'm backstage and Asia is way over on the other side. You can see glimpses of her - 1st person on the front row on the other side of the stage.


The last number that Asia was in was for tumbling. The song was Walk Like An Egyptian. Here is the video from the dress rehearsal, the only one in which I actually sat in the audience.

In between numbers, the girls played Apples to Apples.
